Sheet Metal Fabrication for Retail Environments

K-Display provides sheet metal fabrication for retail environments: point-of-purchase displays, store fixtures, shelving, and kiosk cabinets built to your drawings. The company was founded in Chicago in 1984 to build commercial displays, and retail metalwork is still cut, formed, welded, powder coated, and packed in the same plant.

How we contribute

Retail metalwork is the structure behind the program: the frame that carries the graphic, the shelf that carries the product, the cabinet that houses the screen. Brands, retailers, display agencies, and fixture houses own the design and the store plan. K-Display fabricates the metal parts, finishes them, and delivers them in the state the installer needs.

Our sheet metal fabrication for retail environments covers the parts and their path out the door: laser cutting and CNC punching, forming, MIG, TIG, and spot welding, powder coating, silk-screened or applied graphics, installed hardware, subassembly, and packing. Wood, acrylic, lighting, and electronics come from your other suppliers. We build the metal to fit them.

What we make for retail environments

Typical part families, built to your print.

Point-of-purchase display frames and bases
Floor and counter displays with formed uprights, shelf trays, sign holders, and weighted or bolt-down bases sized to the merchandise and the store footprint.
Store fixture components
Uprights, brackets, base decks, kickplates, and end trims made to the fixture house's bay layout and slot pitch.
Shelving and merchandising trays
Formed steel shelves with front lips, dividers, and product stops, plus perforated or slotted panels for hooks and accessories.
Counter and checkout metalwork
Cladding panels, cash-wrap frames, and queue rails that arrive ready to fit around millwork and equipment.
Kiosk and self-checkout cabinets
Cabinets, bezels, and access panels built around the screen, payment device, and service envelope, with locks and hasps installed.
Signage and brand hardware
Sign frames, header panels, logo plates, and laser-cut lettering finished in the brand's color and texture.

What retail environment jobs require

Each item is something you specify and we build to.

Cosmetic finish and color consistency
Fixtures ship to many stores over many months. Specify the powder color, texture, and gloss, name the visible faces, and send a physical sample when the match matters.
Assembly state
Knock-down parts, subassemblies, or fully assembled units change the packing, the freight, and the installer's time. State the assembly state and who installs.
Graphics and branding
Silk-screened artwork, applied decals, logo cutouts, and label positions belong on the drawing, with artwork files and placement.
Hardware and accessory interfaces
Slot pitch for brackets and hooks, locks and hasps, leveling feet, casters, and glass or acrylic inserts all need clear mating dimensions.
Rollout quantities and schedule
A test batch, a regional wave, and a national rollout are different jobs. Give the total quantity, the release schedule, and the ship-to pattern.
Packing and labeling
Store-by-store kitting, part labels, and protective packing for coated faces keep cosmetic parts intact in transit.

How the work runs

Retail programs run in waves, so the sequence is set up for repeats.

  1. Review the program as a set

We read the display or fixture drawings together: mating parts, graphics, hardware, and the assembly state the installer expects.

  2. Build and finish

Parts are cut, formed, and welded, then powder coated. Hardware and graphics go on before subassembly so the unit leaves complete.

  3. Kit and ship by wave

Units are packed by store or by wave, labeled, and released on the rollout schedule. Repeat waves are built from the same released drawings.
