Sheet Metal Fabrication for Energy
K-Display provides sheet metal fabrication for energy equipment: switchgear and power distribution enclosures, battery energy storage housings, inverter covers, EV charging cabinets and the mounting frames under them. We build to your drawings and to the enclosure type, material and finish your installation site requires.
How we contribute
Energy equipment lives in the field. Switchgear stands in substations and electrical rooms, battery storage cabinets sit on pads outdoors, and EV chargers stand in parking lots through rain, snow and road salt. The sheet metal around that equipment is what the weather meets first, so the enclosure type, the material and the coating are specified before the first part is cut.
Our sheet metal fabrication for energy equipment covers the enclosures, doors, gland plates, mounting rails and frames in that scope. We cut, form and weld the shells, install hinges, three-point latches and self-clinching hardware, powder coat in-house, and assemble to the build state your drawings define. Electrical assembly, listing and system validation stay with your engineers.
What we make for energy
Enclosure and frame parts for power equipment installed indoors and out.
- Switchgear and distribution enclosures
- Freestanding and wall-mount bodies, doors, dead-front covers and breaker-cutout panels for low-voltage switchgear, panelboards and distribution equipment.
- Battery energy storage housings
- Cabinet shells, module shelves, rack rails and vented covers for battery modules and management electronics, with entries placed to your cable and cooling plan.
- Inverter and converter covers
- Housings, heat-sink cutouts, louvered panels and mounting plates for inverters, converters and small transformers.
- EV charging cabinets
- Charger bodies, front panels with display and connector cutouts, plinths, rain hoods and service doors with gasket paths for outdoor charging equipment.
- Gland plates and cable entry plates
- Removable entry plates, knockout patterns and drip-shielded openings for conduit and cable entry on outdoor cabinets.
- Mounting frames and pedestals
- Welded base frames, pedestal mounts and pole brackets for chargers, meters and pad-mounted equipment.
What energy jobs require
Inputs the site sets and the drawing carries.
- Enclosure type
- State the NEMA 250 type the installation calls for, such as Type 1 or 12 indoors and Type 3R or 4 outdoors. It sets the seam construction, drip shields, gasket lands and door overlap we build to. The rating itself is evaluated on your finished product.
- Outdoor materials and corrosion resistance
- Specify galvanized or galvannealed steel, 304 or 316 stainless, or 5052 aluminum for outdoor service, and note where a coastal or road-salt environment changes the choice.
- Weather-resistant coating and masking
- Name the powder coat system, color and film thickness for outdoor exposure, the surface preparation, and the bare-metal areas at grounding lugs and door bonds to mask.
- Cable and conduit entry
- Show entry locations, conduit sizes, gland plate cutouts and drainage details so openings land where the wiring plan needs them without undoing the enclosure type.
- Locking and tamper resistance
- Specify three-point latches, padlock provisions, tamper-resistant fasteners and door restraints for cabinets in public or unattended locations.
- Documentation
- State the material certifications, inspection records and traceability you need with each shipment. Requirements go on the drawing and travel with the order.
How the work runs
Outdoor enclosures are reviewed against the site before they are cut.
Review against the environment
We check the enclosure drawings, hardware list and finish specification against the stated enclosure type and site conditions, and flag seams or openings that conflict with them.
Fabricate the weather-facing shell
Laser cut, form and weld bodies, doors, hoods and gland plates; install hinges, latches and self-clinching hardware to the bill of material.
Coat, assemble and ship
Prepare the surface and powder coat in-house with grounding points masked, fit gaskets and doors, and pack assemblies or kits by release.
