Sheet Metal Fabrication for Industrial Machinery
K-Display provides sheet metal fabrication for industrial machinery builders: the housings, guards, bases, and on-machine enclosures that surround your mechanism. We cut, form, weld, finish, and install hardware to your drawings, then deliver the parts grouped by machine.
How we contribute
A machine builder designs the mechanism and buys the sheet metal around it. Housings, shrouds, guard panels, service covers, bases, and the cabinets that hold the controls are all fabricated parts, and most of them mate to machined or purchased components. We build those parts from your released drawings and hold the interfaces your assembly depends on.
K-Display takes responsibility for the metalwork: laser cutting and CNC punching, forming, MIG and TIG welding, powder coating with masked mating faces, installed inserts, hinges, and latches, and assembly into the subassembly you specify. Your team keeps the machine design, the controls, and the final build.
What we make for industrial machinery
Typical parts we fabricate to a machine builder's print.
- Machine housings and shrouds
- Formed outer panels and top shrouds sized to the machine envelope, with cutouts for shafts, cables, and service reach. These are the surfaces a customer sees on the finished machine.
- Fixed guards and access panels
- Barrier panels, hinged doors, and lift-off covers that attach to the frame at the points your safety design fixes, with provisions for the interlock switches you specify.
- Equipment bases and support frames
- Welded bases, mounting plates, and gussets with the datums and leveling-foot positions your mechanism is aligned to.
- On-machine control cabinets
- Control enclosures and junction boxes mounted to the machine, with the door devices, entry holes, and mounting panel your panel layout calls for.
- Operator consoles and pushbutton stations
- Console bodies, bezels, and pedestal parts cut for your HMI, switches, and e-stop, positioned where the operator stands.
- Chutes, hoppers, and small brackets
- Formed chutes, part hoppers, sensor mounts, cable brackets, and covers that live inside the machine and are ordered in sets per unit.
What industrial machinery jobs require
These are inputs you specify. We build to them.
- Guarding built to your safety design
- OSHA 29 CFR 1910.212 requires guards to be affixed to the machine and to create no new hazard. Your risk assessment decides the guard type, openings, and fastening; we fabricate to that design.
- Panel enclosures that fit your listing
- When your control panel is built to UL 508A, the enclosure type, gasket, and bonding provisions come from the panel shop. Give us the required type and the device cutouts and we hold them.
- Materials chosen for the machine's environment
- Cold-rolled steel for most housings and frames, galvanized or pre-plated sheet where coating is not wanted, stainless for wash-down zones, and 5052 aluminum where weight matters. Name the material and gauge on each drawing.
- Finish matched across the machine
- Powder coat color and texture that match the rest of the machine, with mounting faces, threads, and ground points masked. Tell us which dimensions apply after coating.
- Hardware installed before assembly
- Self-clinching studs and nuts, hinges, quarter-turn latches, and handles installed to your bill of materials, so the panel arrives ready to bolt to the frame.
- Kits ordered by machine serial
- Sets of housings, guards, and covers packed per machine, labeled with your part numbers, so the assembly cell receives one kit per unit.
How the work runs
Sheet metal fabrication for industrial machinery runs as a set, not as loose parts.
Review the machine package
We read the housing, guard, base, and cabinet drawings against the assembly model, flag mating features and tolerance stacks, and confirm material, finish, and hardware for every part in the set.
Fabricate and weld to the released revision
Parts are cut, formed, and welded to the drawing revision you release. Frames and bases are checked at the datums your mechanism mounts to before they move to finishing.
Finish, install hardware, and kit per machine
Powder coating with masking, installed hardware, identification labels, and packing by machine serial. Pilot units run first; repeat orders follow your build schedule.
